IPL 2024 Likely To Start From March 22 To May 26

The potential schedule for the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is reportedly from March 22 to May 26. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has engaged in discussions regarding the tentative Women’s Premier League (WPL) schedule, expected to run from February 22 to March 17. The IPL is anticipated to commence five days after the conclusion of the WPL.

However, the confirmation of the IPL schedule is contingent on the General Election dates in the country. The BCCI is optimistic about hosting the league in India, pending approval of the proposed schedule. If the March 22 to May 26 schedule is approved, the Indian cricket team will have only a five-day window to assemble and prepare for the T20 World Cup in the US and the Caribbean, starting on June 2. Notably, India’s opening match against Ireland is slated for June 5.

Most cricket boards have assured the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that their players will be available until the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Nevertheless, with the T20 World Cup starting on June 1, the possibility of some players departing early cannot be dismissed. Currently, the BCCI’s main focus is on coordinating the IPL schedule with the general elections and ensuring that the league can be held in India.
