Punjab Kings wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma has been in scintillating form since the start of the ongoing edition of the IPL 2023 season and the 26-year-old’s performances have impressed many across the cricketing spectrum.
The right-handed batsman has scored 239 runs so far in the campaign after playing 10 matches, and former Indian pacer and IPL expert, JioCinema RP Singh has observed an improvement in the Amravati batsman in recent times.

Singh felt that the youngster would score even more runs if he was given a chance to come up the order.
“Jitesh has improved a lot. He used to play innings of 15-25 runs and played some good big shots and then got out. He has now started converting them into better innings,” the 37-year-old said.
He said, ‘I thought he could score a good 25-30 (this season) but in his last match he took it a little further. If he gets a chance to bat higher up the order regularly, Jitesh will score more,” the pacer said.
He also talked about the importance of knowing when to go for the big shots, which according to the former pacer is more important than the ability to play the big shots.
He said, ‘It is important to know when to play the big shots. Jitesh starts trying them from the very first ball,” Singh said.
“In international cricket, you will face 4-5 world class bowlers and they will dominate you. So Jitesh has to improve in that aspect,” he elaborated.

Singh also expressed that if Sharma can change his game to suit the needs and requirements of international cricket, the day is not far when he will be a part of the Indian team conversation.
“There is no doubt that he is playing well, his wicketkeeping is also good but you can’t expect to change the game by hitting big shots every ball because at the international level things are a little different,” he added. If he can take it a notch higher, Jitesh can definitely be a part of the Indian team. He has been very impressive.
