Raj Angad Bawa has been ruled out of the season due to a shoulder injury.

Punjab Kings sign uncapped Gurnoor Singh for remainder IPL 2023 season as a replacement for all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa who has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury.

“Punjab Kings (PBKS) have signed Gurnoor Singh Brar for IPL 2023 season as a replacement for the injured Raj Angad Bawa for INR 20 lakhs,” read an IPL media release.

Raj played two matches for PBKS last season.

Gurnoor is a left-handed batting all-rounder who made his first-class debut for Punjab in December 2022. He has so far featured in five first-class matches, scoring 107 runs at a strike-rate of 120.22 and taking seven wickets. Economy of 3.80.

PBKS start their IPL 2023 campaign on a winning note Kolkata Knight Riders by seven runs in a rain-curtailed match at Mohali.

PBKS opted to bat first and rode on quick half-centuries from Bhanuka Prasad, who scored 50 off 32 balls, and captain Shikhar Dhawan (40 off 29 balls), Sam Curran (26* off 17 balls) and Jitesh Sharma Made a useful contribution of (21 runs off 11 balls). posted a challenging 191/5 in 20 overs.

Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh then dismissed Mandeep Singh and Anukul Roy in his first over of the match.

PBKS continued to chase KKR with regular strike but then rain came and the scorecard read 146/7 in 16 overs. The match did not resume and PBKS were seven runs ahead at that time.

PBKS will continue their campaign on Wednesday when they face off Rajasthan Royals in Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

RR started their season with a big win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Captain Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal struck half-centuries to take the former champions to 203/5 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

SRH made their way to 131/8 in 20 overs and RR registered a massive 72-run win.

Sunrisers will take Lucknow Super Giants next.
