Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings displayed dominance with the bat on Super Saturday to emerge victorious from their respective IPL 2023 matches. CSK got the better of their old rivals Mumbai Indians at Chepauk while DC got the better of Royal Challengers Bangalore with the bat at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Nehal Wadhera’s maiden IPL half-century pulled MI to a respectable total but CSK were never bothered in their chase of 140, a target they chased down by six wickets in 17.4 overs. Mathisha Patirana took three wickets for CSK, while Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande took two wickets each.

In the national capital, Virat Kohli, the local boy, scored a half-century but it was overshadowed by DC’s Phil Salt, who smashed 87 off 45 balls to power the hosts to a target of 182 in just 16.4 overs. They registered a seven-wicket win to keep their campaign alive.

IPL 2023 Points Table Update

CSK returned to winning ways after the washout after losing two consecutive matches. This was their second win over Mumbai Indians this season and with this they have now taken the second spot in the standings, trading with Lucknow Supergiants.

CSK have 13 points from 11 matches while LSG have 11 points from 10 matches.

MI are steady at sixth position despite their fifth loss in 10 matches.

RCB are also now steady at the fifth spot after losing their fifth match but for DC, the win saw them move out from the bottom of the heap. They are now 9th in the table while SRH have slipped to 10th.

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis scored 45 off 32 balls and thus became the first batsman to cross the 500-run mark this season. After taking his tally to 511 runs, the South African has retained the Orange Cap.

Devon Conway is now second with 458 runs while Yashasvi Jaiswal has slipped to the third spot.

Thanks to his two wickets against MI on Saturday, pacer Tushar Deshpande dethroned Mohammed Shami from the top spot in the list of leading wicket-takers. With 19 wickets, the CSK bowler now wears the Purple Cap.

Shami has slipped to the second spot while Rashid Khan is third in the list.
