Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard couldn’t have asked for a better birthday gift from his team. Rohit Sharma and co took on table-toppers Gujarat Titans in a high-scoring encounter on Friday, 12 May. After the stunning 27-run win at the Wankhede, the Mumbai players organized a special birthday party for Pollard inside the dressing room.

A clip of the loud celebration was posted on the official Twitter page of the franchise. In the video, the Mumbai cricketers and coaching staff can be heard singing “Happy Birthday” to Pollard.

After cutting the cake, the team members tried to hit the cake on Pollard’s face and the Caribbean legend looked ready for it. Mumbai captioned the clip, “This cake smash > 409 run smash at Wankhede. Happy birthday, Polly.”

Soon after the clip of Pollard’s birthday party surfaced on the internet, fans were quick to highlight the charming personality of the veteran all-rounder. Some users also highlighted the bonding between the squad members of Mumbai Indians. One user wrote, ‘This team is more than a family.’

Along with the fans, the Mumbai franchise made a sarcastic comment which mirrored the outcome of the cake-smashing incident. It said, “We’re not here for the long run, we’re here for the good times—Polly’s birthday cake.”

A die-hard Kieron Pollard fan urged the former Mumbai Indians cricketer to come out of retirement and play for the franchise again.
