The 16th edition of India’s premier T20 league will begin on March 31 in Ahmedabad between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.

After a gap of three years, Jaipur will host five matches of the league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at its iconic SMS Stadium.

According to the schedule announced on Friday, the first match will be played between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow on April 19 at 7:30 pm in Jaipur, the second match will be played between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Kings on April 27 at 7:30 pm.

The third match at SMS Stadium will be between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans from 7.30 am on May 5. Rajasthan Royals will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 7 and Rajasthan Royals will play Royal Challengers Bangalore in the fourth and fifth matches to be held in Jaipur on May 15.

Hotel Association Jaipur President Gajendra Luniwal said, “Guests coming to Rajasthan will buy apparel, stones, gems, visit tourist places. So there will be a business of Rs 500 crore.”

“These matches attract visitors from all walks of life, which gives a direct boost to tourism and other businesses. It is estimated that around 10,000 people visit Jaipur to watch these matches, so it is certain that this type of business will be encouraged. It’ll be a big boost.”

It needs to be added here that during the Kovid-19 pandemic, IPL matches were played in UAE in 2020 and 2021 while in Mumbai and Pune in 2022.
