Speaking on the Rajasthan Royals YouTube channel, Ashwin revealed how he improved as a cricketer over the years. “Years ago, we had a head coach named Duncan Fletcher for the Indian cricket team. I used to go and ask him, “How do I improve? How can I get better?’ He said, ‘You can only become better by making mistakes and failing in front of people. And that’s what I’ve always done in my entire life,’ Ashwin recalled.

“I’ve received a lot of criticism for how I wanted to expand beyond scope. Sometimes people might wonder why is he doing all this? Is he over-ambitious? Is he doing too much? trying to? but that’s just me. If you take it from me, you won’t get this person I can figure out the boundaries if I need it,” the off-spinner added.
