IPL 2022: With great temperament and instinct, Shubman Gill can be a match-winner on his own – Ahmedabad batting coach Gary Kirsten

Gary Kirsten, the mentor and batting coach of the Ahmedabad team, feels that young batsman Shubman Gill can be a match-winner for the team in the Indian Premier League. Ahmedabad on Friday announced their draft picks – Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill – ahead of the IPL 2022 auction. The former Mumbai Indians player has been named the captain of the new franchise. Kirsten, who coached India’s 2011 World Cup winning team, heaped praise on Shubman, saying he had great flair and instincts for the game.

While Shubman, who started his IPL journey with KKR after the Under-19 World Cup win, did not live up to his expectations in the last few seasons as he decided to retain other players over him.

Ahmedabad signed Shubman for Rs 8 crore ahead of the auction as Kirsten said that she is looking forward to working with the talented Indian batsman.

Gill is a brilliant player who I think should play for India. He is on the verge of it and has already played. With great flair and instinct for the game, he can be a match winner on his own,” Kirsten said on Star Sports.

“From a batting perspective, I am looking forward to working with him and helping him deliver the best of the IPL season. We are playing in the best competition in the world, just to make sure it is something important to us as a franchise and players come and feel that to be a part of this franchise and perform for this team It’s an honor. ” They said.

Apart from Kirsten, Ashish Nehra and Vikram Solanki are also part of the Ahmedabad franchise. Interestingly, the trio has previously worked together for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Nehra has been made the head coach while Solkani has been made the director of cricket.
