Warner-Shaw Combo Fire

Against KKR, this was just the second time Warner and Shaw opened the innings for Delhi as the pair shared a 67-run stand against LSG. Umesh struggled in the death overs

Veteran India pacer Umesh Yadav, who was enjoying scintillating form ahead of the competition, failed to create any trouble against DC in the powerplay. He returned with an expensive figure of 1/48. In the first four games, KKR used Umesh’s three overs in the powerplay, but an early attack from Shaw and Warner forced Shreyas Iyer to remove him from the attack after giving away 20 of his two. He returned to the attack in the death overs, where he conceded 5 runs in the 17th over, but struggled badly in the final over. He conceded 23 runs against Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel. However, this is not the first time that Umesh has got hammering. He has scored runs during the slog overs in the last season as well.

Rahane’s flop show continues

KKR’s plan to use Ajinkya Rahane is not working. Apart from 44 runs in the season opener, Rahane is fast becoming a burden for them in the top order. He has been struggling to score quick runs in the powerplay overs which is putting pressure on the other batsmen. He has scored just 80 runs in five matches so far, out of which 44 runs have come against Chennai Super Kings. KKR will now have to look at other options to move ahead in the tournament as they have Sam Billings who has the ability to open the innings but is wasting at number 5. Matches for the franchise.

Here is the discussion of RR vs LSG clash

reliable hetmyer

Shimron Hetmyer played a gem in helping his team post a fighting total of 165/6 from a difficult position against Lucknow, where they were 67/4 in 9.5 overs. The southpaw paced his innings quite well after a steady start and attacked the bowlers in the death overs to reach his half-century to help his side cross the 160-run mark on the rough surface. Hetmyer was dismissed for 14 by Krunal Pandya and after that he played intelligently and did not give any chances to the opposition bowlers. Strategic retired out of Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin became the first player in IPL history to be retired. He played a crucial innings of 28 off 23 to revive Rajasthan’s innings after coming to bat. During the final over, the veteran all-rounder made a brave call to retire himself in the middle to make way for Riyan Parag, who has a slightly better ability to clear the boundary in the final overs. Many former cricketers lauded this tactical move as they felt it was only a matter of time in modern cricket. It was a very clever move as Parag hit a crucial six in the final over and Rajasthan later won the match by a close margin of 3 runs.

Catching the Stoinis Backfire

The KL Rahul-led LSG made some unexpected decisions in their batting order by promoting Krishnappa Gautam and Jason Holder and holding on to Marcus Stoinis for the end. Unfortunately, it backfired badly for them as Gautam was dismissed for a golden duck after batting at number 3 while Holder scored just 8 runs. Aayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya were sent to bat before Stoinis as they were counting on the Aussies. The work done in the last five overs Stoinis, playing his first match of the season, came out to bat at number 8 when the required run rate was inching towards 15 and the team needed 65 runs from 27 balls. He gave them some hope by scoring 38 runs in 17 balls in the last over but that was not enough.
