Butler had scored a century in the previous game and had to work hard in his 47-ball knock on the slow Wankhede pitch. He was backed by Shimron Hetmyer (31 not out) at the other end as the duo shared an unbeaten 83 off 51 balls. The Royals didn’t have the best of times in the powerplays, reaching 35 with a loss to opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (4).

Butler and Devdutt Padikkal (37 off 29) began playing their strokes after the powerplay and shared a 70-run partnership to take the innings forward. After disciplined middle overs between Vanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel, 150 runs at one point seemed difficult for Rajasthan. However, in the end, Butler and Hetmyer changed gears to collect 42 runs from them in the last two overs. Hasaranga, Patel and Willie shared a wicket each for RCB.
