IPL 2022 RR vs RCB, Qualifier 2: Buttler’s ton takes Rajasthan to final after 14 years; Bangalore Knock Out

Jos Buttler scored his fourth century this season to help Rajasthan Royals qualify for the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. In the second qualifier in Ahmedabad on Friday night, the inaugural season champions defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 7 wickets. Now his last match will be against Gujarat Titans on 29th May.

The Royals have entered after a long period of 14 years IPL Closing Butler raised his bat and ensured a memorable win for the Royals. Chasing a target of 158, the Englishman once again stole the show with an unbeaten 106 off 60 balls. During his stint at the crease, he also crossed 800 runs to retain the Orange Cap. His scintillating innings included 10 fours and 6 sixes.

Butler and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a good start to Rajasthan’s innings. The latter scored 16 runs in the first over and it was Buttler who gave the RCB bowlers a clean sweep. He got his 5. scoredth The ongoing season stitched a half-century and an opening stand of 61 runs off just 23 balls before his opening partner Hazlewood was dismissed in 6.th over.

Buttler continued to play with the RCB bowlers and shared a fifty-plus partnership for the second wicket with Sanju Samson. Once the RR skipper was dismissed for 23 off 21, the opener single-handedly chased down the anchor and posted a historic win against Harshal Patel in 19 with a massive six.th above.

Earlier, RR pacer Pramukh Krishna helped his side restrict RCB to 157 for eight with a quick comeback in the last game.

Rajat Patidar hit a 42-ball 58 in the IPL but his effort was the only bright spot in RCB’s innings as other batsmen struggled on a pitch that gave extra bounce to the pacers.

Royals took the lead in the last five overs with five wickets for just 34 runs. He played with supreme confidence after high-profile openers Virat Kohli (7) and Faf du Plessis (25) failed to play impressive innings.

The RR pace pair of Trent Boult (1/28) and Krishna (3/22) were impressive throughout the innings.

Kohli started with a brilliant six off Boult, whipped at deep square leg, and then fell on a loose shot off Krishna. It was a wide ball that came up fast and Kohli patted the wicketkeeper away from his body. The extra bounce contributed to his dismissal.

Patidar joined du Plessis in the middle and played again as if he were batting on a different surface. After hitting two boundaries off Krishna in the same over, he was dropped at backward point by Riyan Parag at the beginning of the innings. Both were delightful strokes, the first being a cracking cut shot between cover and backward point before a surprising back-foot punch.

He also went behind star spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal in the middle overs to complete his half-century with a clean strike at long off.
