MS Dhoni was seen arriving in Chennai a few weeks before the mega auction of the Indian Premier League. The Chennai Super Kings captain checked in at a hotel in the south Indian city on Thursday, January 27.

Dhoni is expected to be involved in the preparation of Chennai Super Kings for the mega auction to be held on February 12 and 13. Dhoni has always played an integral role in the auction business of the team and is known to have performed well in the CSK auction table. Some amazing selections in the past.

CSK have retained four players including their captain Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali.

Jadeja was retained for Rs 16 crore. While Dhoni took home Rs 12 crore. Ali was retained for Rs 8 crore while Gaikwad was retained for Rs 6 crore.

Looking to pick a well-balanced team to defend their title in the IPL, CSK will have Rs 58 crore in the mega auction.

MS Dhoni had put an end to speculations about his future in the IPL when he said at an event in Chennai that he would like to continue playing for CSK and that his farewell match will be in Chennai. It remains to be seen whether the convicted captain continues with the franchise even after IPL 2022.

Dhoni had spoken at length about the dynamics of the IPL auctions last season and that CSK would like to have a core that serves them well for at least the next 5-10 years.

“It’s not about me playing for CSK, it’s about what is best for CSK. The core group, we have to see who can contribute in the next 10 years,” he added.
