IPL 2022: Don’t think we are too far from victory – CSK batting coach Michael Hussey

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey has asked his players to go back to basics to find a winning formula in this edition of the Indian Premier League.

CSK, under new captain Ravindra Jadeja, have lost all four matches so far in the tournament this year, and will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ‘Southern Derby’ at the DY Patil Stadium here on Tuesday.

The Australian said each player in the team must have done some introspection by now to find the reason for the individual disappointment.

“Without a doubt, I’m still really confident with the team, and the guys are working hard. I don’t think we’re too far off from what was expected (from the win), and as you say we’re expecting.” Maybe we can get a win on the board, then hopefully things can escalate from there,” Hussey told CSK TV on Tuesday.

“But I think we have to get it right back to the basics that you know, we can’t be too worried about what happened in the past and we’re not worried about winning two or three games in a row in the future. can be. We just have to get down to playing this next game against RCB, focus on our job, our individual skills, play each ball like it’s a competition, and win one competition after the next, and I’m sure That we can do that, then if we can win more competition than RCB, hopefully we can get a win across the board and hopefully things move a little bit.

“I think people would have personally gone all and taken a good look at themselves in the mirror and maybe identified a thing or two that they could probably do a little bit better and hopefully they could put it on the table. And if everyone brings a little better, hopefully there will be a collective improvement and, as you say, we can get the first win on the board.”

The former Australian batsman, who was a CSK player before becoming the team’s batting coach, has heaped praise on left-arm pacer Mukesh Chaudhary, saying that the Super Kings love what he brings to the table.

“You have to remember, he (Mukesh Chaudhary) is still a young boy, he is playing his first two matches in the IPL, it is a big, big deal for a young inexperienced player. So, we try to support him as much as possible, you see his confidence growing, every game he plays. So, I really believe he has a really big show around the corner, and yes I just love watching him grow and improve with each game. So, yeah really likes what he’s bringing to the table.”
