Lucknow Super Giants batsman Deepak Hooda expressed his disappointment over not finishing work for his team in the last five overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad at DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Monday. After losing an early wicket in the powerplay, Hooda played a brilliant innings of 51 runs along with captain KL Rahul to stabilize Lucknow’s innings.
Hooda played with a lot of responsibility and played some excellent shots in the middle of 33 balls where he hit 3 sixes and as many fours.
He said, ‘The innings was good but I was disappointed that I could not play my part of capitalization in the last five overs. But I am happy with the score of 170,” Hooda told IPL broadcasters Star Sports after the first innings on Monday.

Fighting Fifty helped Hooda move up the Orange Cap tally as he is now third on 119 runs with just 17 runs from Ishan Kishan and Jos Buttler. However, the LSG batsman said that the Orange Cap was never on his mind during his innings against SRH.
“To be honest, I didn’t think of the Orange Cap [he missed out by 17 runs]”he insisted.
He further revealed what his captain Rahul had told him when he went to bat in a tricky situation where Lucknow was already down to three.
He said, “Rahul and I were set, we were scoring runs, and we wanted to capitalize on it. Rahul told me it was a good wicket and to give myself time and straight bat shots are going to be good.” “

This was the second fifty-plus score for Hooda in the first three matches of the season. The talented batsman said that his confidence is high since he bagged the cap for India earlier this year.
