IPL 2022: Batsmen, bowlers and all-rounders Royal Challengers Bangalore should buy in the mega auction

The fact that Royal Challengers Bangalore have never been to an IPL final more than twice is quite shocking, let alone winning the IPL trophy. So, how can a team that has the best great team of modern times win the biggest T20 tournament in the world yet? luck? well maybe. How about an effective team strategy? This aspect has been missing in RCB for a long time and it shows in their results.

Hence, once and for all the RCB management must ensure that their attitude is not the same as they sit in a week’s time to pick the team in the 2022 mega auction. Here’s how they can choose their team; We pick five batsmen (one keeper, of course), three bowlers (pacers), two all-rounders (preferably a spinner who can bat). Before we begin, let me make it clear that RCB have Rs 57 crore with three players retained:

List of players listed in Rs 1.5 crore , Rs 1 crore , 75 lakh rupees , 50 lakh rupees , 40 lakh rupees , Rs 30 lakh , Rupee. 2 million

Virat Kohli batsman INR 15 Crore
Glen Maxwell all rounder INR 11 Crore
mohammed siraji bowler INR 7 Crore

They can still choose 22 players, of which the overseas quota is up to seven players. However, we have tried to select as many Indian talents as possible.

batsmen

Quinton de Kock (Wicket-Keeper/Captain/Opener): When Virat Kohli declared himself unavailable as captain, all eyes were on AB de Villiers. But with AB’s exit, the problem of RCB’s captaincy got further aggravated. But here’s what we suggest. Go Quinton de Kock! De Kock may, in fact, start a bidding war despite being listed at INR 2 Crore; Therefore, achieving that should be the top priority. At 29, de Kock could be a four-year investment, at least RCB won’t need to look elsewhere until the next big auction is upon us, if that happens. That’s a package! He can be an effective keeper, frankly with Virat Kohli; Then he can effectively marshal his troops. If RCB does not take over his services, then Jonny Bairstow is the second best option in this regard.

Alex Hales (middle order): Missing the 2019 World Cup and then watching your team win from the edge. imagine that! That’s exactly what happened with Hales and his fans should be glad that he has controlled his anger well. Look at his stats in the Big Bash and PSL, and you get a solid number three – a position he built while playing in the England jersey. At INR 1.5 Crore, he might be a bit high (poor IPL numbers) but has been in good form of late in the PSL and BBL, where his strike rate is an astonishing 151! Although he did not find much success in the IPL, where he scored 148 runs in 6 matches, playing for SRH, it was a different phase in his career.

Aiden Markram (middle order): How would you define Aiden Markram? A classic batsman who doesn’t hit many aerial shots? Wrong. Markram may not seem the most explosive, but he has mastered the art of scoring T20 runs. He would pick up the gap and then add pace with smooth hitting. His strike rate is close to 150, which is proof of this. He brings stability at No.4, just in case you lose your openers early. 2021 saw him go on to his best performance with 570 runs in just 16 innings.

Priyam Garg (middle order): Under-19 captains have always grabbed attention. Garg led India to the final of the 2020 Under-19 World Cup, only to lose the final to Bangladesh. The tournament marks his career, where he is no longer used even after a few years at SRH. In 19 IPL games, he scored 205 runs with a low average of 15. At 21, he still has room to turn his career around. A new franchise is exactly what the doctor ordered. In return, RCB not only get a long-term investment of Rs 20 lakh, but someone who can take over the captaincy, in five years’ time. Also he gets a good pinch hitter, however, his recent number (Syed Mushtaq Ali) has reduced his brand value from January 2020.

Deepak Hooda (middle order): With Maxwell playing on four, you need someone to be your old Maxwell. The Australian has moved on from playing as a floater and is being groomed into someone who will build the innings. In such a situation, RCB needs a finisher. Who better than Deepak Hooda? He can blow hot, he can blow cold. Also, RCB need some Indian hands on deck as they have limited number of overseas slots available, plus the budget allocated for fast bowlers may force them to go for Hooda, who played the IPL for Punjab Kings. The 2021 opener was almost illuminated. However, by the time the tournament came to an end, his form had deteriorated and he scored just 160 runs in 12 matches. Nonetheless, he must be in an upbeat mood after recently joining the Indian squad for the upcoming West Indies ODIs. He can also double up as a second spinner.

all rounder

Wanindu Hasaranga: Hasaranga is not new to RCB, he was there last year as well. However, their numbers did not match the caliber of the single digit. He spent most of his time on the sidelines, and when he got the chance against Chennai and Kolkata, he didn’t take any wickets. But let’s ignore this. His consistent performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 shows that he can embody the best in his web.

Harshal Patel: Patel made his debut in the 2011 IPL, but luckily, he started coming into his own after nine years. His half-century on debut against Mumbai Indians was followed by a hat-trick against the same opposition. And yet, he was released. Many thought it was wrong for a self-made 31-year-old to rise up through the ranks. Well, then RCB can definitely make it right by giving them the red jersey once again. At a cost of 2 crores, RCB would like to pick him up as soon as he can surely start a bidding war with effective death bowling and above average batting skills in his repertoire.

bowler

Avesh Khan: It is a miracle that Avesh finds himself on the original prize of Rs 20 lakh, as he is definitely more than that. The fact that it is uncapped ensures that it remains at the lowest base price available for mega auctions. Nonetheless, that would certainly start a bidding war. If his stellar form in IPL 2021, where he picked up 24 wickets in 16 matches, wasn’t enough, then his low-end value is a clear invitation for others to follow him. Before you make up your mind about this young man from Indore. Not to forget that Avesh played in six matches in the 2018 IPL and took just four wickets. What a change!

Kagiso Rabada: Rabada was once the leader of Delhi Capitals. Unfortunately, he lost to his compatriot Enrique Nortje in a competition that was getting narrower with each passing day. However, he does not seem bothered by it as he knows he will wage a bidding war thanks to his top-class bowling skills. RCB, on their part, can pick the two bowlers who really made Capitals a formidable unit – Avesh and Rabada. And use them effectively with Josh Hazlewood in Toe. Over the years, RCB have always struggled with real pace. 2022 may be the year that all this changed.

Josh Hazlewood: At 31, Hazlewood is at the peak of her strength. If anyone thinks that Australian T20 bowlers are average, they should think again. His stats over the last six months, be it IPL or ICC T20 World Cup 2021, tell a completely different story. He took 11 wickets while playing for CSK in IPL 2021, his performance in the ICC T20 World Cup was even better – 11 wickets with three wickets in the final.
