IPL 2021: Virat Kohli’s RCB to wear blue jersey in honor of Covid-19 frontline warriors

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team will wear a blue jersey in their match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 20 September 2021. This will be the first match of RCB’s Indian Premier League Phase-II campaign.

The decision to wear the blue jersey has been taken to honor the contribution of the COVID-19 frontline workers who have worked tirelessly during the pandemic risking their lives. RCB gave this information on social media.

“RCB will wear the blue jersey vs KKR on the 20th. We at RCB are honored to sport the Blue Kit, which is similar in color to the PPE Kits of the frontline warriors, to pay tribute to their invaluable service while leading the fight against the COVID pandemic. ,” RCB said in a tweet.

Royal Challengers Bangalore recently appointed Mike Hesson as the coach of the team after the departure of Simon Katich. Players like Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers have reached the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for training ahead of the resumption of IPL 2021.

While Virat Kohli and Mohammad Siraj have reached UAE via chartered plane from Manchester.

IPL is scheduled to start from 19 September 2021 and Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings will be the first match to be played after the interval.
