IPL 2021: Virat Kohli becomes first Indian batsman to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket

New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore once again failed to get off to a great start. RCB opener Devdutt Padikal was dismissed cheaply but skipper Virat Kohli and Bharat put on a solid 68-run partnership for the second wicket to propel their team to the top.

After Virat was dismissed, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell kept the scoreboard ticking and scored a half-century, but once out, none of the Bangalore batsmen could hold on to the innings and his team again scored a decent but Below par total – 165 /6. Jasprit Bumrah (3/36) and Trent Boult (1/17) were the bowlers’ picks for Mumbai. Rahul Chahar and Adam Milne took a wicket each.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli created history in the ongoing RCB vs MI match as he became the first Indian batsman to complete 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. The Indian captain is the fifth batsman in the cricket world to do so.

Apart from Kohli, other batsmen to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket are Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik and David Warner. Virat is now the second fastest to 10,000 T20 runs, followed by Chris Gayle who is the fastest to 10,000 runs in the shortest format.

After Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma is the highest run-scorer for India in T20 format. The senior Indian opener has scored a total of 9348 runs in 338 innings of 351 matches. Rohit has so far scored six centuries and 65 half-centuries in his T20 career.

Virat has so far scored 5 centuries and 73 fifties in the T20 format with a career-best score of 113 runs. The RCB captain is the only batsman to score more than 6000 runs in the IPL.
