The first half of IPL 2021 was played in India earlier this year, before it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The BCCI then decided to move the remaining matches to the UAE and they will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

“The newly re-laid out wicket block will now accommodate six pitches at the centre, including four broadcast and two practice pitches. They currently hold four turf wickets and four astro-turf wickets to accommodate multiple teams during practice sessions. We are constructing a new practice facility with the Indian Railways. These will be ready in time for the IPL.

Among other amenities, a new state-of-the-art ‘Fit Capital Gymnasium’, indoor swimming pool, steam and sauna area have also been upgraded. In addition, the top level of the pavilion houses 11 new VIP suites, a new VIP lavish dining area and improved hospitality facilities.

Khalaf Bukharir, Managing Director of Bukharir Group and CEO of Sharjah Cricket Stadium, said, “The atmosphere of Sharjah or as we call it ‘Sharjah Magic’ is what sets the stadium apart from any other cricket venue in the UAE.”

“It was not more evident than in last year’s edition when we hosted some of the most exciting moments of the IPL,” Bukharir said.

“We still don’t know if we are going to welcome cricket fans to the stadium this IPL, but we are certainly ready and looking forward to hosting some world-class cricket in a world-class, safe and secure environment,” he added. Huh.”

Here the first match will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 24 September. The stadium will also host Qualifier 2 on 11 October and Eliminator on 13 October.
