iPad users will have to wait for new features as iPadOS 16 may be delayed – Times of India

Every year around September, Apple rolls out the latest OS updates to all its devices. However, it looks like this time iPad users will have to wait to get their hands on iPadOS16. Rumours were rife about a slight delay in iPadOS 16 being rolled out to users but now Apple has more or less confirmed it. In a statement issued to TechCrunch, Apple said, “This is an especially big year for iPadOS. As its own platform with features specifically designed for iPad, we have the flexibility to deliver iPadOS on its own schedule. This Fall, iPadOS will ship after iOS, as version 16.1 in a free software update.”
While there is no explicit mention about a delay, the mention of “on its own schedule” does give us a clear indication that iPadOS 16 will not roll out on its expected timeline. There’s no concrete reason about the delay but it has been suggested that one of the features could be behind it.

At WWDC 2022, Apple showcased iPadOS 16 and one of the key features was Stage Manager. As per Apple, Stage Manager is an entirely new multitasking experience that automatically organises apps and windows, making it quick and easy to switch between tasks. Users can create overlapping windows of different sizes in a single view, drag and drop windows from the side, or open apps from the Dock to create groups of apps for faster, more flexible multitasking.
Apple has been making a massive push to make multitasking smoother and seamless on the iPad with each iPadOS version. It has been suggested that Stage Manager has been a bit “unstable” and needs an iPad that runs M1 processor.
A recent report by Bloomberg also suggested that Apple will hold an event in October where it is expected to unveil new iPads as well as Mac devices. The report stated that it is around this time Apple could roll out iPadOS 16 along with new entry-level iPad.
