International Yoga Day 2022: International Yoga Day is near. Every year, Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June. Despite being an ancient practice that began in India over 5,000 years ago, yoga has spread across the world due to its many benefits. Yoga not only ensures physical health but also helps in maintaining balance between mind and body.

If you enjoy yoga, you should know that unlike other types of exercise, it does not require any kind of warm-up, but it does require a few exercises to reap the full benefits of a yoga routine. are required to be followed.

Here are some things you should do before and after yoga:

before yoga

  1. Eat on time- Yoga should be practiced on an empty or light stomach. Make sure your stomach is empty before going to yoga class. No heavy meal should be taken within three hours of yoga practice.
  2. Hydrate Well – Drink plenty of water throughout the day. However, avoid drinking a lot of water just before your yoga session. Filling your stomach before exercising can cause discomfort in some yoga postures.
  3. Wear comfortable clothes- Your clothes should be stretchable but not too loose or flowy. Remove any loose jewelery that may be causing any discomfort. If you have long hair, tie them up.

after yoga

  1. Rest- After your yoga practice, you should rest in Shavasana, or nap, for 10 minutes. It is a fully conscious posture that aims to stay awake while remaining completely relaxed.
  2. Take a bath- Cool down the body for 20-30 minutes after yoga before taking a bath. Allow the sweat to dry from outside and let the body come back to normal temperature and then go for bath.
  3. Hydrate Yourself- After practicing yoga, be sure to rehydrate and replenish electrolytes; Plain water or coconut water are great options.
  4. Eat after interval- Food should not be consumed immediately after the practice of yoga. Light food should be taken after 15-30 minutes of yoga.
