International Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal was shot dead during the ongoing match in Mallian, Punjab on Monday.

International Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal was shot dead by unidentified assailants during the Kabaddi Cup in Malian village of Jalandhar. It is learned that about 20 rounds were fired on his head and chest.

Jalandhar (Rural) Deputy Superintendent of Police (Nakodar) Lakhwinder Singh confirmed the report. Police suspect that eight to ten bullets were fired at the kabaddi player. He said that further investigation is being done.

Video of the disturbing incident is doing the rounds on social media as a series of shots were fired from afar. Tournament spectators were seen running from the spot.

Sandeep ruled the world of Kabaddi for more than a decade and played very well in Canada, USA, UK apart from Punjab. He was an Indian Kabaddi participant who gained fame in recent times due to his victories. He was sometimes referred to as a Diamond participant because of his athletic talent and expertise at a lower level.

Before his death, he was managing a kabaddi federation, and some followers imagine that there was a conflict between different golf equipment and federations.
