Chennai: The Madras High Court Tamil Nadu DGP directed to ensure setting up of ‘functional’ cctv cameras all in Spa And massage center in the state.
Justice SM Subramaniam said, “The DGP shall issue appropriate directions to ensure that these spas, massage centers and medical centers are conducting their commercial activities in a transparent manner and avoid secluded or closed rooms, which are the path of illegal activities.” Will pave it.”
The court passed the order while dismissing a petition filed by CP Girija, who runs an Ayurvedic medicine centre. ECR Demanding that the Chennai Police be stopped from interfering in his business activities.
“This Court is of the view that allegations against such Ayurvedic spas and massage centers are largely in the public domain. On receipt of information, the police have the right to investigate. If any doubts arise, they are bound to conduct inspections to verify the business activities,” the court said.
Therefore, if the CCTVs were installed, it would be convenient for the authorities to verify the footage to ensure that such massage centers alone are doing legitimate business, the judge said.
The court observed that the powers and functions of law enforcing agencies cannot be unnecessarily curtailed, thereby paving the way for any illegal activities by any person in the name of spa or massage centre. The judge said such prevention is not only unconstitutional but also encourages crimes in the society.
