Instagram starts testing another feature you use on Twitter, Facebook and TikTok – Times of India

Meta-owned Instagram will soon begin testing the ‘resposts’ feature for the feed, something which has been missing from Instagram since its inception while being a core feature of Meta‘s own Facebook, Twitter and even TikTok. However, it would not be available to everyone as Instagram plans to test this feature with a selected group of users to begin with.
The ‘repost’ feature was first spotted by social media consultant Matt Navarra, who shared a screenshot of Adam Mosseri‘s Instagram profile showing a repost tab with an icon similar to that of Twitter’s retweet.

Later, Alessandro Paluzzi, a reverse engineer, shared a snippet of what appears to be a splash screen for the ‘repost’ feature test, highlighting what is new about the feature.
Instagram pitches the ‘reposts’ as a new way to recommend new posts to your friends by resharing them on your feed, or you can also have it on Stories, as usual. But, if you choose to reshare a post or Reel on your feed, it will appear in a separate ‘reposts’ feed to your followers, and their reply to these reshared posts will be sent to you as a message.
Well, resharing a post is not entirely new for Instagram. The convenience of resharing a post, story or reel has been there for a long time, but one can not reshare a post on their feed without using a third-party app, which involves its own risk. And now that even TikTok has the feature to reshare videos, it was time for Instagram to introduce the feature.
