Instagram Helps Italian Blogger Figured Out Her Monkeypox Infection — Here’s How

New Delhi: Italian fashion blogger Maxim Sapozhnikov found out about them monkeypox infection Photo and video sharing social networking service through short videos posted on Instagram. Along with a two-part video, Sapozhnikov posted that he was initially unsure whether to share his transition on a public platform for fear of stigma. Sapozhnikov posted, “I have monkeypox. I wasn’t sure if I should share about it publicly or not. But I believe social awareness is more important than any stigma. Any disease Not shameful.”

He said that if he hadn’t seen the video, he would have ignored his symptoms and “continued with a social life with no clue about the disease. The blogger initially suspected his illness to be Kovid-19

In the video, the blogger shared that he had experienced fever, diarrhea and pimples on unusual parts of his body since falling ill.

“I can’t believe this is happening to me,” Sapozhnikov said.

After falling ill, Sapozhnikov said he took a Covid test, which came back negative.

After the first two days of “headache and fever and a little diarrhoea,” he found a small pimple on his finger that later grew larger. He later noticed another wound on his collarbone and other parts of the body.

“Contrary to all prejudices, the disease does not select sexual orientation,” Sapoznikov said, adding that the virus can be spread by touching respiratory particles and objects used by infected people.

So far, more than 5,000 monkeypox cases have been reported from 51 countries around the world that are not endemic to the disease, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The number of infections in Europe represents about 90 percent of the global total, with Italy reporting about 100 cases.
