‘Inspired By Tricolour’: Ashwini Vaishnaw On New Saffron-Coloured Vande Bharat Express

Indian Railways will soon launch new Vande Bharat Express in India wearing saffron-black livery. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav visited the Integrated Coach Factory in Chennai to inspect the new rake and announced that the saffron colored semi-high speed train is inspired by the tricolor. It was also announced that the color of the 28th rake of the India-made semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express will be ‘saffron’, railway officials said on Saturday. A total of 25 Vande Bharat Express trains are currently operational in India.

As per ANI report, the new saffron Vande Bharat Express is yet to roll out and is currently stationed at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, where Vande Bharat trains are manufactured. “The color of this 28th rake is being changed on trial basis,” he added. It is expected that the 28th rake will be commissioned on August 15, ie Independence Day.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav reviewed the security measures in Southern Railway, and also reviewed the improvements in Vande Bharat Express. After the inspection, the Union Minister said that the new color of the 28th rake of the indigenous train is “inspired by the Indian Tricolor”. He said that 25 improvements have been made in Vande Bharat trains.

“It is a concept of Make in India, (meaning) designed in India by our own engineers and technicians. So whatever feedback we are getting from field units regarding AC, toilets etc. during Vande operations Hai Bharat, all those improvements are being used to make design changes,” Vaishnav said at a press briefing.

“A new safety feature, ‘anti-climbers’ or anti-climbing device, which we are working on, was also reviewed today. These will be standard features on all Vande Bharat and other trains,” he added.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two new and upgraded versions of Vande Bharat Express trains – Gorakhpur-Lucknow and Jodhpur-Sabarmati – at Gorakhpur station in Uttar Pradesh, taking the total operational service across the country to a significant milestone. Has reached 50.

It is pertinent to note that India’s semi-high-speed train set, now provides its services in all rail-electrified states across the country. With 50 services operating, Vande Bharat Express has revolutionized rail travel, providing state-of-the-art facilities and reducing travel time for passengers.

The Prime Minister had flagged off the first Vande Bharat Express running between New Delhi and Varanasi on 15 February 2019. Manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, the train set is a symbol of the ‘Make-in-India’ initiative and showcases India’s engineering prowess.
