“He was unable to train with the rest of the England team this afternoon. Broad will be scanned tomorrow to find out about his injury.”

According to a report in ‘The Guardian’, Broad twisted his “right ankle” after slipping “while jogging a light warm-up”.

Meanwhile, the Guardian also said that there is a possibility of injury in the Indian camp with Shardul Thakur ‘suffering from a hamstring problem’. Thakur played the first Test as the fourth Indian fast bowler and India could play R Ashwin if he misses.

England are already missing Jofra Archer due to injury, while all-rounder Ben Stokes has taken an indefinite break to focus on mental health.

If Broad misses, England can play Mark Wood in his place.

The second Test starts on Thursday at Lord’s.
