Indonesian company beats Adani in CIL coal import tender – Times of India

New Delhi: Indonesia’s big mercy energyGujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL), a company that had a prior record of failing to fulfill the contract, emerged as the lowest bidder on Thursday. Coal India Limited‘s (Coal India) Two tenders for import of coal from power generating companies worth about Rs 9,000 crore.
sources said Bara One Energi cited a cost of Rs 4,331.7 crore for supplying three million tonnes of coal to the east coast ports, which was Rs 5,030 crore. Adani Enterprises, Bada Daya made a bid of Rs 4,497 crore to deliver the same quantity to the west coast.
Last week, CIL rejected the company during technical evaluation for another tender to import 2.4 million tonnes of coal on the grounds of insufficient paperwork.
In October last year, GSECL had canceled an order to Bada Daya and encashed its bank guarantee after the company failed to supply the coal contracted for the Sikka power plant.
Bara Daya could not be immediately contacted.
A CIL official told TOI that a financial bid is opened only when the bidder successfully fulfills the technical bid criteria as per the tender document. “If any discrepancy is brought to the notice of CIL with sufficient evidence, all due diligence process as per the policy of CIL will be followed,” he added.
CIL is importing 8 million tonnes of coal on behalf of power plants through three tenders. Adani Enterprises emerged as the lowest bidder in the first tender of 2.4 million tonnes.
