Indonesia Open 2022: HS Prannoy beat Lakshya Sen in the first round

World No. 9 HS Prannoy suffered a crushing defeat against HS Prannoy in the first round of the Indonesia Open 2022 on Wednesday, June 15. Before the match, Sen had defeated his opponent both times in the previous meetings in 2022. However, Prannoy managed to turn the tables.

Prannoy won the match in straight sets 21-10, 21-9. To the surprise of many, Sen failed to put Prannoy under any pressure as Prannoy dominated the entire time. Sen won the Thomas Cup to create history, but was knocked out of the Indonesia Masters after reaching the quarter-finals.

Prannoy made some great returns and smashes and Sen didn’t know about them. Despite his recent performance, Sen looked out of touch.

On the first day of the tournament, Sai Praneeth and two-time Olympic gold medalist PV Sindhu lost. At the moment, Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth are India’s best bets to win a medal in the championship.
