IndiGo Calls Poha a ‘Salad’, Netizens School Airline on Twitter

Indigo airline, India’s largest air carrier with over 50 per cent market share, has generated a meme-fest on Twitter over its recent social media campaign. Indigo shared a post on Twitter describing Indian breakfast Poha as a salad. Indigo wrote in a tweet, “Try the salads that are prepared and served the same day. You will throw away everything else.” However, while doing so, the budget airline used a picture of Poha. This did not go down well with netizens, who called out the airline for the misleading image.

A Twitter user wrote, “If you’re talking Indians, it’s not a salad at all – it’s “Poha”. You used to sell “Upma” https://zeenews.india.com/”Poha “Ready yet eat version mixed with boiling water, probably this version is freshly prepared poha with lemon juice. This is not a salad @IndiGo6E. Please get your facts right.”

Another wrote, “FYI: Salad: A cold dish of various mixtures of raw or cooked vegetables.. (Oxford Dictionary) Salad: A mixture of uncooked vegetables, usually including lettuce, either as a separate dish eaten in or with other food (Cambridge Dictionary) … the rest of the dish is yours, say whatever you want”.

Indian budget carrier IndiGo recently revealed that it now has 300 aircraft in its fleet. Airbus A320 CEO and NEO, A321 NEO, and ATR 72-600 aircraft are flown by IndiGo. It is to be noted that the airline has recently expanded its domestic and international operations to multiple locations across India.
