India’s daily Covid cases below 40K, recovery rate improves to 97%

Maharashtra’s Covid cases continue to rise

Maharashtra reported 8,535 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday and 156 people died, while 6,013 patients were cured, the state health department said.

With the fresh addition, the number of cases in Maharashtra rose to 61,57,799 and the death toll to 1,25,878. A statement said that with 1,16,165 active cases in the state, the total number of people who have been cured has gone up to 59,12,479.

Maharashtra’s case recovery rate is now 96.02 percent and the death rate is 2.04 percent.

Pune recorded over 1,000 new cases, taking the total number of cases to 10,68,389. Nine people died taking the total death toll to 17,509. According to district officials, the number of active cases stood at 10,700, while the total death toll has crossed 18,093.

Mumbai reported 558 new cases, taking the total number of cases to 7,27,694, while the active number rose to 11,423. With the death of 15 people, the death toll in the city rose to 15,627.

More than 1,400 new cases have been reported in Kolhapur in western Maharashtra, taking the total number of cases to 1,74,017, of which 13,157 are active. The cumulative death toll rose to 5,048 in 36 deaths.
