India’s cumulative covid-19 vaccination close to 200 crores

The Union Health Ministry said that the cumulative COVID-19 vaccine dose administered in the country crossed the 200 crore mark on Saturday. More than 10 lakh vaccine doses were administered till 7 pm on Saturday evening.

The daily vaccination numbers are expected to increase with the compilation of the final report for the day by late night. Under the government’s special 75-day campaign ‘Covid Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav’, people in the age group of 18-59 were given over 14.94 lakh precautionary doses of COVID-19 vaccines till 10 pm, most of which were administered free of cost. .

According to the ministry’s data, the total number of precautionary doses to be administered in the age group of 18-59 has crossed 1,06,32,488. A 75-day campaign to provide free preventive doses to all people aged 18 years and above at government immunization centers began on Friday.

So far, 2.81 crore vaccine doses have been administered to people aged 60 years and above. 3.79 crore children in the 12-14 age group have been given the first dose, while over 6.08 crore adolescents in the 15-18 age group have been given the first dose.

The nationwide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16 last year, in which health workers were vaccinated in the first phase. The vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2 last year. The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination began on March 1 last year for people above 60 years of age and 45 years and above with specified co-morbid conditions.

Vaccination of all people above the age of 45 years began on April 1 last year. The government then decided to expand the scope of the immunization campaign to allow everyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated against COVID-19 from May 1 last year. Vaccination of adolescents aged 15-18 began on 3 January.

India began giving precautionary doses of vaccines to health care and frontline workers and people aged 60 and above from January 10. The country began vaccinating children in the 12-14 age group from March 16 and also removed the comorbidity clause, making everyone older. Above 60 are eligible for the precautionary dose of COVID-19 vaccines.
