According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday, India recorded 46,148 new Covid-19 cases and 979 deaths in the last 24 hours.
This is the first time the death toll has fallen below the 1,000 mark in two-and-a-half months and the 11th consecutive day in the last two months that the toll has remained below the 2,000-mark.
