Indian U-17 women’s football team assistant coach Alex Ambrose sacked for sexual misconduct

The assistant coach of the Indian U-17 women’s football team, Alex Ambrose, was sacked on Sunday. sexual misconduct allegations came out against him.

Dr. SY Qureshi, a member of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), announced the decision on social media.

“Alex Ambrose, assistant head coach of the U-17 women’s team, has been sacked for sexual misconduct. Further action is in process,” Qureshi tweeted.

Earlier on June 30, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) had carried out the incident through an official statement without naming the perpetrator or specifying the offense.

AIFF statement:

“An incident of misconduct has been reported in the U17 women’s team currently on a demonstration tour of Europe. The AIFF follows a zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline. As a preliminary action, the Federation has temporarily suspended the individual pending further investigation.” AIFF has asked the person concerned to stop all contact with the team India immediately, and be physically present for further investigation on their arrival.”

The Indian U-17 Women’s Football Team is currently on an exposure tour to Europe ahead of FIFA U-17 Women’s Football. World Cup which is to be played in India later this year. India suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Italy in their opening game followed by a 1-3 loss to Chile, a 0-2 loss to Mexico and a 5-1 loss to the Netherlands.
