Indian Railways Operating 380 Special Trains With 6,369 Trips To Deal With Summer Rush

For the convenience of rail passengers and to clear extra rush of passengers, Indian Railways is running 6,369 trips of 380 special trains this summer season. According to an official statement, Indian Railways is running 1,770 more trips this year than the total summer special trains run in 2022 (4,599 trips of 348 trains).

Where on an average 13.2 trips per train were run last summer, 16.8 trips per special train are being made in the current year. As per the information, the major destinations connected are Patna-Secunderabad, Patna-Yesvantpur, Barauni-Muzaffarpur, Delhi-Patna, New Delhi-Katra, Chandigarh-Gorakhpur, Anand Vihar-Patna, Visakhapatnam-Puri-Howrah, Mumbai-Patna. In all, these 380 special trains with 6369 trips have 25794 general coaches and 55243 sleeper coaches. The general coach has a capacity of 100 passengers, while the sleeper coach has a capacity of 72 passengers in ICF and 78 in LHB.

In view of the summer rush, all the Zonal Railways spread across the country have made preparations to run special trips. These special trains ensure connectivity to various states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

South Western Railway mainly catering to Karnataka region is running maximum 1790 trips this summer season as against 779 trips last year while Western Railway mainly catering to Gujarat state and He has also prepared to run 1470 rounds as compared to 438 rounds.
