The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has rescued all 22 crew members from the distressed merchant vessel MT Global King Eye off the seas of Gujarat. ICG ships and ALH Dhruv were dispatched from Porbandar to carry out rescue operations at a distance of 93 nautical miles at sea.

The rescued team consists of 20 Indians along with 1 Pakistani and 1 Sri Lankan national. The rescued persons are being brought to Porbandar port by ICG ships and helicopters.

The ship had left from Khor Fakkan in UAE
According to information received from ICG, this ship had left from Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It was to go to Karnataka via Gujarat. Meanwhile, Porbandar came under the grip of a storm near the coast. We had received a distress alert from MT Global King. After this, all the 22 crew members were rescued while conducting a swift rescue operation by helicopter. All crew are safe and sound.

The ICG says that the ICG had deployed the newly commissioned ALH Dhruv helicopters for the rescue operations. The safety boats were also sinking in the water due to strong winds. During this, there were a lot of problems in the rescue by helicopter. But our soldiers took everyone out safely.
