Indian Army foils infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, kills two terrorists

Poonch: Indian Army troops on Saturday (January 7) killed two heavily armed terrorists in Poonch’s Balakote sector in an overnight operation. Jammu-based Defense PRO said, alert troops observed a suspicious movement along the Line of Control in Balakot sector on Saturday evening and some speculative firing took place.

“A massive search operation was launched in the area, following which contact with the terrorists was established. Two unidentified terrorists were killed in a brief encounter,” he said. He said that more searches were going on to unearth the presence of any more terrorists.

The Army wrote on its official Twitter handle, “Operation underway to nab terrorists involved in #Dhangri attack.
Vigilant troops deployed at the border fence in #Balakot have so far traced and killed two terrorists. The area has been cordoned off and operations are on.”

It may be noted that two terrorists have been gunned down amid high alert in Jammu, Poonch-Rajouri districts in the wake of the recent killing of six people, including two minors, in Dhangari village of Rajouri.

Meanwhile, one person, who was injured in the Dhangadi firing incident, died early today, taking the death toll to seven. According to officials, the deceased was airlifted from GMC Rajouri to the hospital in Jammu. He has been identified as Prince Sharma. He was injured on the first day of the firing incident in Dhangari.
