Washington: Cases of terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir have declined by 40 per cent in the last two years, a group of Indian-Americans has said, as it celebrated the second anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370.
The event titled “Kashmir: Moving into a Dangerous Zone” was organized by Hindu Policy Research And advocacy collective (Hindupact), an initiative of World Hindu Council of America (VHPA) and Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) with members of the Kashmiri and Afghan diaspora communities Capitol Hill.
Coinciding with the visit to India by the US Secretary of State state Anthony Blinken, the event held on July 29 also launched a two-week initiative – #KashmirForward.
The group said in a statement that there has been a 40 per cent decline in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in the last two years.
The event was attended by Congress employees, leaders of NGOs and media personalities who were given a direct account of the harmful effects of terrorism felt in the region, radically supported by Pakistan’s military and intelligence apparatus. Due to the increasing presence of Islamic occupiers, the press release said.

In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said, “The number of terrorist incidents has decreased by 59 per cent during 2020 and by 32 per cent till June, 2021 as compared to 2019. comparison with duration.”
India on August 5, 2019 abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and bifurcated it into two union territories.
