The Indian Air Force has got a boost to its fighter jet fleet amid tensions on the border. The Air Force has received two second hand Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft from France. Now they have been sent to Gwalior Airbase. Sources in the center told ANI, the Indian Air Force has received two Mirage 2000 trainer version aircraft from France. Both the aircraft were flying with their respective Air Force and recently reached Gwalior airbase.

Sources said the aircraft will now be upgraded to the latest standards. Therefore, this will be done under the ongoing Mirage Upgrade Program at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The Indian Air Force has received both the aircraft as part of a program to make the Mirage fighter fleet about 50 aircraft.

IAF has received around 51 Mirages

The IAF has acquired around 51 Mirages in different batches. He had formed three squadrons based at Gwalior Air Force Station. According to sources, the Mirage upgrade deal was signed between the French and Indian sides to increase the capacity of 51 aircraft. However, some of these kits have survived the crash of these planes.

Sources said that the same kit can be installed in these two aircraft of the French Air Force. in order to make them suitable for combat missions. Sources said the Indian Air Force has cleverly invested in finding parts for the Mirage in the form of an old French aircraft. This will help the IAF to retain them till 2035.
