India witnesses single-day rise of 16,326 new COVID-19 cases, 666 fatalities reported

New Delhi: India witnessed a one-day rise of 16,326 new COVID-19 cases to reach 34,159,562, while active cases declined to 1,73,728, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday. Which is the lowest in 233 days.

The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000 for 28 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 117 consecutive days.

The Health Ministry said that the active cases have risen to 1,73,728, comprising 0.51 per cent of the total infections, which is the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.16 per cent, as of March 2020. Most since.

Also, a total of 59.84 crore cumulative tests have been conducted so far for the detection of COVID-19 in the country.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.20 per cent. For the last 19 days, it is less than two per cent.

Under the nationwide vaccination campaign, 101.30 crore vaccine doses have been given so far.

Maharashtra recorded 1,632 new coronavirus cases a day earlier and 40 fresh deaths on Friday, while 1,744 patients recovered from the infection, the health department said.

No fresh case of respiratory disease was reported in eight of the total 36 districts.

With new cases and deaths, the state’s COVID-19 tally rose to 65,99,850, while the toll rose to 1,39,965.

On Thursday, the state recorded 1,573 new coronavirus cases and 39 deaths.

Meanwhile, daily new COVID cases continued to fluctuate in Kerala as 9,361 people turned positive on Friday after 80,393 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, and the test positivity rate stood at 11.64 per cent, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. said in a statement.

The new cases on Wednesday stood at 11,150, while on Thursday it came down to 8,733.

Vijayan’s statement also mentioned that 9,401 people turned negative taking the active cases in the state to 80,892, of which 9.8 per cent patients were in hospitals.

Friday saw 90 more COVID deaths, taking the death toll to 27,765.

Delhi, on the other hand, recorded one death due to COVID-19 and 38 fresh cases with a positivity rate of 0.07 per cent, as per the data shared by the city’s health department on Friday.

The national capital has recorded four deaths due to the coronavirus infection so far this month, with the last three deaths on October 2, October 10 and October 19.

The death toll from COVID-19 in Delhi has risen to 25,091.

According to official figures, last month only five people died due to coronavirus infection – one each on September 7 and September 16 and 17 and two on September 28.

As per the latest health bulletin, 38 cases were reported on Friday with a positivity rate of 0.07 per cent.

The cumulative number of cases on Friday stood at 14,39,526. More than 14.14 lakh patients have recovered from the infection.
