India vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test: Bowlers put India on top; Sri Lanka 86/6 at stumps on Day 1

new Delhi: It was about the bowlers on the first day of the second India-Sri Lanka second Test being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. A total of 16 wickets fell on the very first day of the series decider. At stumps, India had put themselves on top by restricting Sri Lanka to 86/6, trailing India by 166 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Niroshan Dickwella remained unbeaten on 13 till stumps while Lasith Embuldeniya is yet to open the account. Angelo Mathews scored 43, Kusal Mendis scored 2, Captain Dimuth Karunaratna scored 4, Lahiru Thirimanne scored 8, Dhananjay de Silva scored 10 and Charith Aslanka scored 5.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets, Mohammed Shami two and Axar Patel took one wicket.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, India faced trouble from the Sri Lankan bowlers as the hosts lost four crucial batsmen in the form of Mayank Agarwal (4), Rohit Sharma (15), Hanuma Vihari (31) and Virat. Kohli (23) at the tee break.

In-form Shreyas Iyer came out to bat when India were getting bowled out for 86/4. His counter-attack (92 off 98 balls) saved India and helped them post a respectable total of 252 runs. Sadly, the batsman missed out on a century by just 8 runs.
