India vs England 5th Test: Rahul Dravid on Kohli’s form

The upcoming fifth and final rescheduled Test between India and England will see some fight within fight. one of them will Virat Kohli Fight your inner demons to come out on top. He has been fighting for runs for a long time. Not to forget, he hasn’t scored a century across formats for India or in the IPL since November of 2019. Looks like he will be stuck on 70 international tonnes forever. It’s not that he hasn’t got a start or hasn’t reached the three-figure mark. But every time he is close, his luck runs out or comes a bad cricket shot or decision. Will it be difficult for Virat to bat these demons and come back to his brutal best? How difficult is it for Virat to recover from his failures against England? How should he fight these setbacks? Does he lack motivation? Head coach Rahul Dravid was asked all these questions on Virat when he spoke to a group of Indian journalists. Dravid had a simple answerVirat is still the same cricketer who does the basics right.

“His desire, his appetite, his preparation. The way he played vs Leicestershire (shown). He’s ticking all the right boxes. Players go through phases like this, you don’t really need motivation, Someone lacks motivation or desire as far as Virat is concerned,” Dravid said ahead of the all-important fifth Test.

Dravid said a century should not be the only mark of success for a batsman and from a team perspective, a quality 70 or even 80 can be a match-winning knock and that is what he expects from Virat.

“Sometimes you bat well but you don’t get a big score. Even 70 is a good innings, he scored a brilliant 70 in Cape Town. He couldn’t convert it into a century. People can only 100 I see it as success. But as a coach, I want match-winning contribution from him. But it’s not the focus on three figures. For us it’s about contribution, on and off the field, the way he himself carry it,” concluded Dravid.
