According to sources, on Britain’s recommendation, India is looking to engage Australia in the bilateral after the United Kingdom expressed keen interest in engaging with the third country in the area of ​​cyber capacity building.

According to sources, on the recommendation of the UK, India is considering including Australia in the bilateral. Government sources said that during the India-UK Bilateral Cyber ​​Dialogue to be held in London on April 11-12, 2022, the UK expressed its keen interest in engaging with the third country in the area of ​​cyber capacity building. The country referred to Japan, European Union, Australia, Singapore and others for positive consideration as per mutual understanding.

In the latest development, sources said the UK has proposed Australia as a country for a trilateral partnership with India and to participate in and discuss cyber prevention policies at the national level, a two-day India-Australia-UK Cyber ​​Prevention Have sought views from India on holding the session. A two-day meeting will be held soon to discuss cyber diplomacy. Sources said all agencies have been asked to give their views on the proposal to take a third country along and details of meetings, programmes, exercises, if any, held with them in the last two years.

The countries are expected to discuss cyber prevention policy during the two-day meeting, where representatives from Australia, India and the UK and other ministries will share their perspectives.

They will also have a simulation exercise where the delegates are likely to collectively respond to a cyber incident affecting all the three countries. The exercise will focus on the development of foreign policy responses to an incident.

Over the past 18 months, bilateral cyber cooperation with the UK has progressed with continued engagement in the form of a cyber dialogue, which has taken forward the mandate set out by the India-UK Framework.

The two countries also held the fifth edition of their Cyber ​​Dialogue in London in April last year.
