Digital India: A latest data from MyGovIndia suggested that India has topped the list of five countries in digital payments in the year 2022 with 89.5 million digital transactions. According to the data, in the year 2022, India will account for 46 percent of the global real time. payments, adding that digital payment transactions in India are higher than the four major countries combined.

MyGovIndia tweeted, “India continues to dominate the digital payments landscape! With innovative solutions and widespread adoption, we march towards a cashless economy.”

Brazil is second in the list followed by China

Second on the list is Brazil with 29.2 million transactions followed by China with 17.6 million transactions. Thailand is at number four with 16.5 million digital transactions, followed by South Korea with transactions worth 8 million, according to MyGovIndia data.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is number one in digital payments and is transforming the country’s rural economy. The PM said, “India is number one in digital payments. India is one of the countries where mobile data is the cheapest. Today the rural economy of the country is changing.”

‘India sees new milestones in digital payments’

In digital payments, India is witnessing new milestones in terms of both value and volume, indicating the strength and acceptance of India’s payments ecosystem, according to experts at the Reserve Bank of India. MyGovIndia is a citizen engagement platform of the Government of India, which gives people an opportunity to work towards Surajya with their ideas and grassroots contribution.
