The Defense Ministry said the successful test was part of the routine user training launch conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command.

India on Monday successfully test-fired Agni-IV long-range ballistic missile on APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. The missile is nuclear capable and has a range of 4,000 km.

“A successful training launch of an intermediate-range ballistic missile, Agni-IV, was carried out today at around 1930 hrs from APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha. The launch validated all operational parameters as well as the reliability of the system,” Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The Defense Ministry said the successful test was part of the routine user training launch conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command. The MoD said the successful test reaffirms India’s policy of having a ‘reliable minimum resistance’ capability.
