There has been a decrease in the Northeast. The mangrove cover of the country has increased by 17 sq km as compared to 2019. This picture of the country’s forest area has come out in the India State of Forest Report. This report is prepared every 2 years.

Experts say that the increase in sea storms and lack of rain in the northeastern states could be the main reasons for the changes in the forest cover. For the first time, the Tiger Corridor forest area has also been assessed. The Tiger Reserve area in the country is 74.5% of the forest area. The forest area of ​​the corridor has increased by 37.15 sq km in a decade.
