Team India action has already shifted from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 to the upcoming home series against New Zealand starting on Wednesday. Both the sides will have to forget the respective disappointments in the marquee ICC event as they lock horns in the three-match T20I series which will be followed by two red-ball matches. Both the teams will face each other in the first match of the T20 series on Wednesday, November 17 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The game is scheduled to start at 07:00 PM IST.
India’s tour of New Zealand in 2021 will mark a new era in Indian cricket as the Men in Blue will be under the guidance of newly-appointed head coaches Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma as permanent T20I captains. Team India has made some changes as it became clear that some restructuring was needed after their early exit from the T20 World Cup.
Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakraborty have been dropped and IPL star Venkatesh Iyer will look to make his debut. Other players who have been out of the T20 World Cup squad like Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal also get a chance in this series. Fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested and Mohammad Siraj and Avesh will join Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s bowling attack. Akshar Patel and Ishaan Kishan have also found a place in the team.
Meanwhile, the visitors have some changes of their own, with skipper Kane Williamson having excused himself from the shorter format of the game to prioritize the upcoming Test series starting November 25 in Kanpur. Veteran pacer Tim Southee has been named as the stand-in captain. Kyle Jamieson, who played only the practice match, has also been included, while Trent Boult will lead the attack as usual. The dangerous Daryl Mitchell, who is in the top order, can also become a threat to the home team. Another interesting match will be between the new captain Rohit and Ish Sodhi. Hitman has faced problems against wrist spinners before.
Though the Black Caps are prominent as the clear underdogs in the game, India will take revenge on their mind, which makes the upcoming T20I match in Jaipur a thrilling one.
