India Cuts Windfall Tax on Petroleum Crude to Zero

New Delhi leaves windfall tax on petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) unchanged at zero

India has reduced the windfall tax on petroleum crude from Rs 4,100 ($50.13) per tonne to zero with effect from May 16, according to a government notification.

It left the windfall tax on petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) unchanged at zero.

The levy on petroleum crude was reduced from Rs 6,400 per tonne to Rs 4,100 per tonne on May 1.

India last July imposed a windfall tax on crude producers and private refiners look to profit from strong refining margins in overseas markets.
