India crosses the landmark 90 crores; 100% first dose in 6 states

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted, India on Saturday surpassed the historic record of 90 crore vaccinations with over 70 lakh shots. India is aiming to vaccinate its entire adult population by the end of the year.

“India crosses the landmark of 90 crore Covid 19 vaccinations. Shastriji gave the slogan ‘Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan’. Revered Atalii added ‘Jai Vigyan’ and PM@Narendra Modiji gave the slogan ‘Jai Anusandhan’. Today, the corona vaccine is the result of this anusandhan #JaiAnusandhan,” Mandaviya tweeted.

According to the Health Ministry, six states including Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim have completed 100 per cent of the eligible population’s first dose vaccination.

Meanwhile, India recorded 24,354 Covid cases till 8 am on Saturday with 234 deaths in 24 hours, according to health ministry data. In the last 24 hours, out of the total 3.30 crore recovered cases, 25,455 recovered. There was a drop of 2.73 lakh in the active caseload.

14.29 lakh tests were conducted on the previous day, taking a total of 57.19 crore tests so far. The weekly positivity rate was 1.68 per cent, which was less than 3 per cent for the last 99 days. The daily positivity rate, 1.70 percent, was less than 3 percent on day 33 and less than 5 percent on day 116.

Vaccine availability

The Center said that so far more than 88.14 crore vaccine doses have been provided to the States/UTs through free channel and direct state procurement category. It added that more than 5.28 crore doses are still available with the states/UTs.
