India criticizes America’s religious freedom report: Accused of presenting facts incorrectly, questions raised on impartiality

India has criticized America’s religious freedom report. The report on religious freedom has been called wrong. State Department spokesperson Arindam Bagchi has questioned the impartiality of the US Commission for International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

Bagchi said that the understanding of India by the person who prepared the USCIRF report is very less. The constitutional structure, its plurality and its democratic behavior are not known here.

USCIRF repeatedly shows false facts
India has accused the USCIRF of acting under an agenda. India says that the commission is repeatedly misrepresenting the facts. Therefore, many questions arise about the credibility of the report.

US ambassador spewed poison
US Ambassador Rashad Hussain spewed venom against India at the summit on religious freedom in America. Hussain said the rights of minorities in India are at risk and the US is conveying its concerns to India in this regard. Matters like Citizenship Amendment Act, attacks on churches and hijab ban were also mentioned.

Attacks on minorities on the rise in India: Report
The US had released the report of the Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) for the year 2021. In this report, concerns were expressed about the religious freedom of the minorities of India. Also, questions were raised on some decisions of the UP and Karnataka governments. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also gave a statement about India’s religious freedom quoting this report.
