Meanwhile, India reported 69,959 recoveries in the last 24 hours, which includes 1,171 Omicron patients. The daily positivity rate is 10.64% while the weekly rate is 8.85%. India’s recovery rate currently stands at 96.36% with a total of 3,45,70,131 people getting cured so far.

According to the Health Ministry, a total of 69,31,55,280 samples have been tested till January 10, including 15,79,928 on Monday.
In addition, 152.89 crore vaccine doses have been given so far under the nationwide immunization drive, which includes around one million precautionary doses given on the first day of its rollout on Monday.
According to the Government of India, on the first day of the rollout, 5,19,604 health workers, 2,01,205 frontline workers and 2,63,867 senior citizens were given a precautionary dose of the COVID vaccine.
